An elderly man in Dallas was found to be the latest victim of a knockout attack after he was found outside of a Denny’s restaurant, lying face down in a pool of his own blood. 74-year-old Charles Pace was punched in the back of a head by one individual last weekend and then continued to be beaten even after he fell to the ground. Although Pace was taken to the hospital and told reporters he is now fine, there are few leads as to who was responsible for the attack. Dallas police have now started a social media campaign to find the attacker.
“Someone’s out there committing these crimes,” said Dallas police Maj. Jeff Cotner. “They’re doing it with malice and forethought. They’re victimizing these people and we need your help.”
Unfortunately, Pace isn’t the only elderly person to be attacked as part of a knockout game. Devin Alexander, a 16-year-old from Rochester, N.Y., punched an elderly woman earlier this month and recorded the attack, uploading the video to his Facebook page. He was later arrested for violating the terms of his probation for a robbery conviction and is currently in custody.
Alexander posted his knockout attack to Facebook under the name “True Goon ToCool Sneekey.” The now-removed video shows the teenager initially stating that he would hit the old lady with a snowball, but he instead punched her in the head and celebrated with glee. Alexander repeatedly yelled “Smack Cam!” as he and the videographer fled the scene. Luckily, the woman did not appear to have any serious injuries.
