An Ohio teen has been arrested for the murder of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a landfill in Pennsylvania.
Police arrested 18-year-old Ricki Williams IV and have charged him with murder and kidnapping in the death of 16-year-old Gina Burger.
Williams was reportedly a “regular” at the Austintown apartment complex where Burger resided.
“And now justice will finally be done for my daughter,” her mother, Jacqueline Bacher, told WTAE. “I’m relieved to know that he’s not out there and to know he can’t hurt anybody else.”
Burger was reported missing on June 23 when she left to borrow tea bags from a neighbor.
“She was last seen by her mother at around 8 that night,” Austintown Police Chief Bob Gavalier said.
Workers at Tri-County Industries discovered her body after it was dumped at the landfill by a sanitation truck on June 25.
“The thought, I mean, how many days did she lay in a landfill with garbage?” Bacher said. “And nobody cared that that’s where she ended up? There are consequences for this. You don’t just disregard somebody’s life and throw them in a trash bin and that’s it and think you can live your life like nothing went on, because we’re certainly not living our life like nothing went on now.”
Police are quite certain Williams is the man responsible.
“He held her against her will at the Compass West Apartments and she was murdered at Compass West Apartments with a knife. We do not have a knife at this time,” Gavalier said.
Prosecutors told WPXI, “There is evil in this world and he’s one of those evil people. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason he would do this.”
