A 21-year-old Australian woman has bigger things to worry about than the cyclist that she sent to the hospital with a fractured spine – car repairs.
According to The Standard, Kimberley Davis told a police officer responding to the incident “I just don’t care because I’ve already been through a lot of bullshit and my car is, like, pretty expensive and now I have to fix it. I’m kind of pissed that the cyclist has hit the side of my car. I don’t agree that people texting and driving could hit a cyclist. I wasn’t on my phone when I hit the cyclist.”
According to police, Davis had sent 44 texts while driving that day. When emergency personnel arrived they found Davis parked 300 feet away from the victim and refusing to help.
Craig Porra, the cyclist, required spinal surgery and three months of recovery and came dangerously close to becoming a paraplegic. He also suffered a broken foot and multiple lacerations. Meanwhile, Davis has been fined $4,500 and has had her license suspended for nine months. Poor girl…
Porra says after the girl left him lying on the side of the road “My neighbor came along and saw the light of my pushbike, so he came back.”
He also believes her punishment is too lenient and notes that “I haven’t spoken to the girl, and neither has my wife.”
On her Facebook page, Davis writes “Never speed and do bad things so you lose your license kiddies! This sucks.”
When friends tried to empathize with her situation, she replied “All good it was coming since I got them keys!”
