Multiple Wisconsin natives are facing significant jail time after breaking into the home of a pregnant woman and gang-raping her. Six African-American suspects, five men and one woman are facing a variety of charges including rape, assault and burglary. Michon A. Thomas, Eric D. Bass and Kristopher J. Hughes all face robbery and sexual assault charges for their role in the home invasion. DeAndrae L. Mayweathers Jr. was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, while two others were charged with helping to plan and facilitate the crime.
The incident took place three weeks ago in the city of Madison, when three men entered the home of the pregnant woman and her husband in the early morning hours. One of the attackers yanked the man from the bed and beat him, then dragged the pregnant woman into the hallway and pointed a gun at her stomach before telling her, “You’re going to die tonight.” Despite her pleas to let them take whatever they wanted, all three men raped her and one forced her to perform oral sex. They then stole the couple’s wedding rings and credit cards, as well as several electronic items before fleeing the house.
“In my 27-plus years of policing in Madison, this is probably one of the most disturbing and heinous crimes I have ever seen,” said interim Madison police Chief Randy Gaber. Even more shocking is that the suspects entered the wrong home for the attack — they intended to rob a man in the same neighborhood who was carrying large sums of cash. All of the suspects are still in custody and will remain there until their hearing.
