Stephen Colbert is putting his comedic touch to good use. The host of The Colbert Report claims that he stole a microwave from Bill O’Reilly’s green room when he appeared as a guest on his show in 2007. Colbert brought the microwave to his set and it has remained there for the last seven years, but he’s now auctioning it off in the hopes of raising money for troops.
He put the microwave up for auction on Ebay, and it is shockingly fetching at least $85,000 with nine days to go before bidding closes. Colbert has signed the microwave and is also hoping to get O’Reilly to do to the same. All proceeds from the auction will go the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which helps injured service members and provides services like caregivers and pro bono attorneys for injured veterans.
“Nation, don’t miss your chance to bid on what one day historians will say I said was history; the microwave I stole from Bill O’Reilly when I appeared on his show in 2007,” read the description for the microwave. “It is the last known remaining spin zone from the O’Reilly Factor, and it can microwave the heck out of a frozen burrito. It is also signed by yours truly, and one hopes by Papa Bear himself. Bid now, bid often, and bid big, because who knows what other celebrities will sign it, or not. One of a kind.”
It seems that Colbert has a knack of raising money; back in 2012, his super PAC raised over $1.2 million within a matter of months, according to filings with the FEC.
