A Missouri man charged with raping his 11-year-old neighbor reportedly told officers that the girl had “seduced him.”
According to reports, 67-year-old Cleo Morgan is charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy, and child molestation.
Police say the girl had been staying with Morgan and his wife for several months. She told police that she slept on the couch but Morgan began to repeatedly lure her into the bedroom where he would molest her.
Morgan tried to claim that the girl “seduced him” and he broke it off when the girl “got real possessive of him.”
Morgan’s wife knocked on the door in the middle of one of the incidents and the girl tried to hide under the covers. Relatives say she banned the girl from the house because she was “breaking up her marriage by hanging on him and climbed up on Cleo’s lap while he was on the couch. Donna said Cleo was not a pedophile.”
In her diary, detectives found entries like “I (heart) CFM” and “Party Cleo’s B-Day.”
According to the probable cause statement, Morgan told the girl “if people found out what they did then he would go to jail and Donna would be left at home with no one to care for her.”
Police executed a search warrant, collecting sheets from Morgan’s bed and DNA samples.
Morgan faces 10 to 30 years on each of the five counts of statutory rape and statutory sodomy if convicted. The sentences are enhanced under Missouri law because the victim is under 14 years old.
