A Florida mother is facing an almost certain life sentence after beating and torturing her three-year-old son to death. Ghanson Debrosse had been dead for several other hours by the time her mother, Fafane Caze, called paramedics. After burning, beating and throwing her son across a room repeatedly, police say she showed no remorse over her conduct.
“She didn’t shed a tear,” said Major Neal Cuevas of the Miami Police Department. “She cared more about getting arrested than she did about her son.”
The arrest report indicates that Caze lit the infant’s genital area in an effort to get him stop urinating on the floor, burned his face and fingers, and beat him with a broom handle when he defecated on himself. Detective Alonzo Rhymer that there were buckle-shaped scars all over the boy’s body, which matched the belt Caze wore as part of her uniform for her job as a security guard.
She also admitted to throwing the boy into a table and across the room, but refused to get help when he struggled to breathe and only called 9-1-1 when he stopped breathing completely. Detectives also confirmed that this was hardly the first time that Caze had beaten her infant son and one instance even saw her throw the boy directly at his father, Donald Debrosse, during an altercation. However, she consistently ‘refused to seek medical attention to treat the victim’s injuries, instead concocting a remedy of vegetable oil and laundry blue to treat the victim’s wounds.”
