A Brooklyn man has been arrested after he kicked a stray cat 20 feet through the air for a viral video while the crowd watching him at the housing complex laughed.
The video was posted on Facebook and shows 21-year-old Andre Robinson luring the kitten over only to kick the poor cat into the bushes. Then, Robinson laughs and does a little dance.
The Daily News reports: “With shouts of laughter from his posse, Robinson, sporting flashy red-and-white sneakers, a gray baseball cap and red sweatshirt, broke into a twisted, open-mouthed grin. His stomach-turning display of cruelty included him waving his hands in the air as he swaggered for the camera, cackling madly while holding what appeared to be a cigarette in his left hand.”
Police didn’t have a hard time finding Robinson. Not only did he post the video on Facebook, he also has eight prior arrests. He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty following his ninth arrest.
An NYPD source told the New York Post: “We were able to identify him as part of an investigation behind the video. People who saw were really disturbed by it.”
People who live at the housing complex say that cat is a “fixture in the area.” A veterinarian examined the cat and said it suffered serious injuries in the incident.
His mother, Mary Kirby, says: “He had to be high on something. It’s very out of his character. He had to be high to do what he did. This isn’t him. He loves animals. He loved his cats, he had dogs, he always loved them.”
