A Texas family breathed a sigh of relief after discovering an intruder had come into their home while everyone was asleep. A nanny cam captured the intruder hovering over a toddler’s crib but no one was hurt and the burglar decided to leave and rob a nearby house instead.
According to authorities, a burglar came in through the family’s first floor window and went room to room. According to reports, “for five minutes, the stranger is seen walking in and out of the bedroom of a two-year-old boy. At one point, the intruder hovers over the boy’s crib and points a flashlight at the child.”
Thinh Le, the baby’s father, says “I was infuriated when I saw him walking back and forth in my baby’s room. My stomach was turning. He’s my world. I love him.”
Le adds “My boy thought it was me so he went back to sleep. If he made noise or cried and I went upstairs, something else could happen.”
Police say the man left and robbed another home nearby.
Crystal Cox, the other home’s owner, says “I was sleeping. My dog started barking at the top of the stairs. My boyfriend thought his bark sounded different so he flipped the light on.”
The burglar saw Cox’ boyfriend and ran off, dropping some of her belongings on the front lawn. “My purse, my sister’s purse, my laptop bag, and our neighbor’s laptop bag,” Cox said.
She added “He has no problem being in someone’s house, knowing that they were home asleep. That takes a lot of nerve.”
The suspect has been described as a 16- to 18-year-old male with a tattoo behind his right ear. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
