Rapper Kanye West has a song called “I Am God” on his latest album Yeezus, the nickname he has bestowed upon himself, but this is taking things to a whole new level. There’s a new religion entirely devoted to West called Yeezianity and there’s even a website devoted to it called called yeezianity.com. The religion was created by an anonymous fan and is now actively looking for new members, or “Ye’ciples,” asking those interested in joining to take an “unidentifiable picture of yourself holding up a piece of paper or some other creative sign stating “I believe in Yeezus” and e-mail it to [email protected]”
Yeezianity is an anonymous religion which declares that the “savior” West should be “known to us only as Yeezus” and believes that he “is a diving being who has been sent by God to usher in a New Age of humanity.” Members adhere to a golden rule which states to “Create For Others What You Would Have Created For Yourself.” The founder of Yeezianity also said that members will eventually have the right to not remain anonymous once the religion grows.
“I created this thing about a month ago. All I did was tweet it and I don’t have a lot of Twitter followers, so that didn’t go anywhere,” said the founder of the site to Noisey. “I was putting up other Craigslist ads and I just thought, ‘Well, let’s just see where this goes.’ I got some responses.” However, it’s still not clear whether the founder is serious about Yeezianity or if the new religion is supposed to be a joke.
Either way, West hasn’t exactly been displaying holy behavior lately. He allegedly assaulted a teenager in a waiting room earlier this week after the man made racist insults and comments at Kim Kardashian.
