After more than 20 years with CBS News, Sharyl Attkisson has resigned from the network over their liberal agenda. The investigative correspondent made the announcement yesterday and Politico reported she had “grown frustrated with what she saw as the network’s liberal bias.” She reached an agreement to resign from CBS ahead of her contract after months of negotiations. Attkisson is now writing a book for HarperCollins with the working title of Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington.
Many now believe that Attkisson could soon be making a move to Fox News. Numerous anchors at the conservative station have praised Attkisson for her investigative reporting and believe she would be a welcome addition to their team. Last May, Sean Hannity said she was one of the “few mainstream media reporters who are actually gutsy enough to do real and tough reporting…now they are being undermined by their news organizations.” He said on his radio program today that he was confident she would find a job somewhere soon.
Political media outlets have also been heaping praise on Attkisson within the last 24 hours. Breitbart writer John Nolte wrote “it sucks that Sharyl Attkisson is leaving CBS. She is one of a handful of reporters worth a damn.” The Blace writer T. Becket Adams speculated that “what you should hear any moment now is the stampeding footsteps of news groups fighting each other for Attkisson.”
Attkisson has been a reporter for over 30 years and has been reporting on national networks since joining CNN in 1990. She left that network in 1993 and moved to CBS immediately afterwards.
