A Pennsylvania cop posed as an Amish woman for two weeks in a sting to catch a child predator – and came up short. But maybe he got to keep the dress.
According to authorities, Pulaski Township Police Sgt. Chad Adams disguised himself as an Amish woman, complete with a dress, apron, and cloak, to catch a child predator who exposed himself to children coming home from school.
The 39-year-old police sergeant says “We were doing surveillance in the area trying to catch him and nothing was going down. After he wasn’t seeing any kids in the area, he wasn’t doing anything. It was getting frustrating.”
That’s when Adams came up with this ingenious idea. “I asked the Amish families if we can have some women’s clothing,” Adams said. “I was hoping it wouldn’t be offensive to them. But they totally agreed.”
Adams then spent many days patrolling the area wearing Amish garb. “We figured there was no way he’s going to tell I was a guy,” Adams said.
Right, just a handsome woman, out for a stroll. It helped that Adams was wearing a bullet-proof vest and packing a handgun under the apron. “We didn’t know what to expect from him,” he said.
Although police were unable to catch the perv, Adams has no regrets. “Honestly, I didn’t really mind,” he said. “I didn’t really care what anybody thought of me. I wanted to catch the guy – that was my main concern.”
Police say that flasher hasn’t been seen in the county since January and authorities believe the perp may have been a man who was arrested in a nearby county for similar behavior.
