A Philadelphia man has been arrested after he lured a teen to his home by offering her a job in home healthcare only to rape the girl and force her to sign an escort contract.
Police say 41-year-old Kevin Cornish promised the 18-year-old girl a job in home healthcare. When she came to his home, however, he forced her to get naked and let him take photos of her before he raped her.
“I guess the best way to describe him is a predator. A true predator,” said Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
“He pushes her down in a chair. He squeezes her shoulders real hard and forces her to sign the form,” Chitwood added.
When police raided Cornish’s home on Friday after the teen called 911, they seized three computers and a stack of escort contracts with as many as 50 women. Police say these are all signs of a “major human trafficking operation.”
“It’s just the beginning of the investigation,” Chitwood noted. “Apparently he has been doing this for some time, so we may have a major human trafficking operation. We have to check all of these applications to see if [those women] were assaulted.”
Meanwhile, Cornish says he runs a “legitimate escort service” and the sex with the teen was consensual.
He has been charged with rape, kidnapping, human trafficking, and assault.
He is being held on $250,000 bail.
Chitwood says “I’ve said it over and over again, cautioning people about Craigslist. There are a lot of sickos out there. You really have to be careful.”
