A Maryland teen has been arrested after he allegedly raped a fellow student in a school hallway.
According to reports, 17-year-old Jocori Scarborough forced the unidentified 15-year-old girl to a hallway with no security cameras. She says she repeatedly said “no” while he grabbed her by the hips, dragged her down the hall, lifted her skirt, and sexually assaulted her.
The girl was taken to be treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Scarborough has been charged with first- and second-degree rape, two assault charges, kidnapping, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment, and molestation at a school. He was released on $100,000 bail and banned from being near the school.
Fellow student Kelsie Dukes said “How could that go on where a teacher doesn’t know? It’s scary. It’s very scary.”
Sgt. David Owens of the Wicomico Bureau of Investigations said “the initial travels were captured on video in the school. At this point, nothing indicating where he did or did not know that he had moved to an area where he could not be captured by video.”
District Superintendent John Fredericksen said “at any given moment, there may not be people in every nook and cranny in the building. This is just horrible. Our children should be safe, our families should be safe, to do their very best. None of them should be subjected to the kind of treatment that’s alleged to have occurred. You can’t control the behaviors of every person all the time. But we are as safe as you can possibly be within our situation.”
