The NYPD has released video of black-on-white crime in the form of a highly controversial “knockout game.” Surveillance video shows a group of African-American teenagers punching a Jewish man as he walked past them in a Brooklyn neighborhood. Rabbi Yaacov Behrman told CBS New York that the teenagers were “playing Knockout the Jew.”
The reported knockout incidents is the latest in a string of similar viral videos of “games” involving black-on-white crimes. A retired police sergeant described the knockout game as involving “a group of black makes, one of which would strike an innocent bystanders as hard as he could in the face, attempting to knock them out with one punch.”
The attack is one of seven recent assaults against Jewish people in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown heights, which began last September and have also involved racial graffiti. In one of the other attacks, a 12-year-old Jewish boy was cornered by 15 teenagers and attacked by two of them, both of whom screamed “We got him!” Behrman, the executive director of the Jewish Future Alliance, said he was disappointed that no arrests have been made in any of the seven attacks.
The Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating the attacks to try and determine if they are in fact anti-Semitic. However, many people believe the knockout game is racially motivated, with the attackers being black and the victims being white or Asian.
