Even Michelle Obama has had enough of the outrageous antics of her husband. The First Lady appeared to be fuming as the President took “selfie” photos with other politicians during the memorial service for Nelson Mandela. At one point, Michelle got up and switched seats after she got tired of looking at Barack laughing with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during the somber event, placing herself between the cackling pair.
Barack’s selfie with Thorning-Schmidt and British Prime Minister David Cameron quickly went viral, making “Michelle Obama” and “Danish PM” trending topics on Twitter. Many Americans expressed outrage at the photos and the President’s lack of sensitivity during the memorial service for the human rights icon. “I wish I could say that I’m shocked that: A) Obama took a selfie at a memorial service, or B.) he looked like a giddy tween while doing it,” tweeted Angela Nelson.
But while the President has been busy taking it easy with world leaders, some states have stepped up to handle the jobs he’s neglected. Texas Lt. Gov David Dewhurst confirmed that state officials shut down the Rio Grande section of the U.S./Mexican border during a three-week effort, which was created over frustration at ongoing illegal immigration, human trafficking and drug smuggling in the area. He stated that despite repeated requests. White House officials have reportedly refused to provide additional resources or manpower.
“Organized crime groups in Texas are contracting with Mexican cartels to be their enforcers. The cartels’ presence are in all of our major cities,” said Dewhurst. “This is just unacceptable. The federal government is not providing the resources. I’ve grown convinced over the last year that this administration has no intention of securing the border.”
