Is Barack Obama creating a Muslim outreach and Islamic belief program for public schools? Conservative websites are reporting that Obama held a press conference over the weekend to announce a Muslim outreach program for K-12 schools that will begin in February. The alleged program will teach kids the basics of the Muslim religion and Islamic belief, but will not require them to participate in any prayers.
“The Muslim community deserves our full understanding and respect. We have killed millions of Muslims overseas since the September 11th attacks,” said Obama. These folks are not all bad. In fact, most of them are hardworking citizens just like you and me. I encourage every student in America to participate in your school’s Muslim outreach program. Learn about the Muslim community, the beauty of the Sunnah and the magic of the Qur’an.”
However, no mainstream conservative or liberal websites have picked up the story yet, leading many to believe it was a hoax. A phone number on website Conservative Frontline that claimed to be for a Nationwide Muslim Youth Outreach hotline was actually directed to the Republican National Committee.
If Obama is putting the Muslim outreach program in schools, it would also be ironic because schools across the country are banning Christmas imagery. Brooklet Elementary School in Georgia has banned its teachers from placing Christmas cards on the doors outside their classroom, which had been a tradition for decades. Teachers were also reportedly ordered to remove any religious artifacts or icons from their rooms and literally turn their backs to students who needed to pray in class.
