It is great to know Michelle is living it up!
A group of unusually well-dressed visitors lined up at the southeast gate of the White House Friday, when the winners of the 2013 National Design Awards joined First Lady Michelle Obama for a celebratory lunch.
Contributing to the glow of the occasion was a four-course lunch that included grilled apricots with Virginia cured ham, herb ravioli with pea puree and Wagyu beef with roasted cauliflower pudding. Some of the guests’ seasonally small purses were also bulging with small glasses of honey from the White House’s South Lawn that had dotted the tables as party favors.
“The President is so jealous right now, because I always get to host this,”
“Because really, deep down, he would have been an architect had he been as talented and creative as all of you,”
“I want you to bask in the glow of this room and feel the power and the potential of what you can be just by sitting in these chairs, by walking through these doors; to know that this is the bar you set for yourself; you set your bar high,”
“We have a country house and I’m very into growing things and foraging,”
“I’ve been making a lot of jams all summer.”
