Michelle Obama has convinced the San Francisco Giants to set up a Kale garden in their stadium. How many people are going to the ballgame to eat kale? Isn’t this crazy?
President Obama often likes to praise sports teams for their community service, and on Monday he also got to work in a nod to first lady Michelle Obama’s healthy eating initiative — sort of.
Obama praised the World Series champion San Francisco Giants for plans to turn the centerfield bleachers at AT&T Park into an edible garden, lined with rows of kale, strawberries and eggplant; it’s designed to encourage healthy eating by youngsters.
The president added, however: "Even Michelle would say it’s okay to have a hot dog once in a while."
As the audience chuckled, Obama said, "I don’t want everybody to get carried away and think they have to have kale every time they go to the ballpark."
