When I first heard about Detroit filing for bankruptcy, I had this disgusting feeling that Obama was going to spend our hard earned taxpayer dollars to bail them out. Rand Paul "over my dead body" will they bail out Detroit. He’s right. Think about what message this will send to every other major city in America if the feds do a bail out. It means, the party isn’t over: spend, spend, spend.
Breitbart.com reports Paul intends to use every resource at his disposal to prevent such a bailout. According to the story, Paul stated, “I basically say he is bailing them out over my dead body because we don’t have any money in Washington.”
Reinforcing some of the fiscally conservative views he shares with his father, former Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), he explained a bailout would signal other cities and states that the federal government would do the same if they conduct reckless spending. Paul believes the answer is to, “…live within your means and spend what you have but don’t spend money you don’t have.” He concluded that, if Detroit had been more fiscally responsible, it wouldn’t have needed to declare bankruptcy.
There you have it. Detroit wouldn’t be in this mess had they been more fiscally responsible. Obama could learn a thing or two because America is looking at bankruptcy ourselves in the not too distant future and there will be nobody to bail us out.
