The Blaze put together a list of potential candidates for 2016. I am removing "Jeb Bush" and "Chris Christie" because a) we don’t need another RINO and b) we need someone that can appeal to moderate voters and expand the base.
- Marco Rubio
- Paul Ryan
- Bob McDonnell
- Rand Paul
- Nikki Haley
- Bobby Jindal
Marco Rubio can express conservatism in a way that appeals to the masses. He can expand the base by siphoning off more Hispanic votes, young votes, women votes. Just see how he did in Florida.
Paul Ryan is young and has been elected several times in a predominantly Democrat district. He can expand the base.
Bob McDonnell – not so sure he has what it takes to expand the base.
Rand Paul can appeal to the growing and motivated Libertarian wing of the Republican party. He endorsed Mitt Romney for president and that caused a backlash from among his supporters. I wonder if they’d continue to support him if he were to run.
Nikki Haley is great. Not sure if she can expand the base. She may be able to express conservatism in a way that appeals to women, Asians, and other minorities.
Bobby Jindal got a good percentage (for a Republican) of the black vote in Louisiana. He’s done a great job at improving education in the inner cities by bringing in school choice. His focus on education, health care can rebrand the Republican party as a party that cares about these things.
With that said, my favorite candidate would be Marco Rubio followed by a tie between Paul Ryan and Bobby Jindal. How about you?
