Herman Cain on The View:
"A lot of black Americans are thinking for themselves. There are some that are so brainwashed that they won’t even consider a Conservative idea. You save the save-able."
What Cain said was right. There are people who will dismiss any idea just because it is either liberal or conservative — regardless of their race. He speaks, specifically of African Americans, because he feels like he is an expert in that area. I don’t have a problem with what he said or how he worded it.
I don’t think, either, he showed disdain towards others of his own race. He showed disdain towards closed minded people.
"It is not what he said but how he said it. He said some can’t be saved. He talked about African Americans of which he is as if we are the other. That is what I don’t like about Herman Cain. That is how Herman Cain talks and that is the seeds of his popularity with Whites who someone else would say are racist."
From Zennie’s blog:
Cain makes it OK for any racist to be, well, racist, and still like Herman Cain. After all, Cain’s subliminal message seems to be “I know you don’t like Blacks, and I don’t like some of them either, so it’s OK to vote for me.”
Herman Cain’s tapped into racism against Blacks to help himself this election season. Moreover it’s not a calculated move; it’s part of who Cain is. Cain has the luxury of making self-hating statements.
So let me get liberal thinking clear. Republicans are racist when they don’t support black candidates… but they are STILL racist when they do support black candidates.
