Mr. Ryan met his family in Lexington when he landed the night before, greeted on the tarmac by his wife, Janna, and his mother Betty Douglas; Sam and his other two children met him at the hotel.
After an hour-long drive from Lexington to Danville, home of Centre College, which is hosting the debate, he took a walk-through of the debate hall – an auditorium in Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts. He spent part of the day studying his briefing binders – iPod blaring music in his ears – and managed to squeeze in some time to go running. His aides said he was planning to eat salmon and rice for dinner. Some people call fish “brain food.”
