Politico ran a national poll that had Obama up by two points nationally. But when you dissect the numbers, his lead is only impressive because he’s up by over 20 points in the safe Democrat states.
When you look at the tossup states that will determine the election, Romney is up by 4 points.
He also has a 4 point lead among independents.
Politico fails to mention Romney’s lead in the tossup states, but they do mention his lead among Independents.
Romney now leads by 4 points among independents, up slightly from a week ago. The Republican must overperform with that group to make up for the near monolithic support of African-Americans for Obama, as well as the huge Democratic advantage among Latinos and women.
