Daniel Greenfield wrote about this story on his blog Sultan for Knish that I had to relay to you… His post was called "Obama for sale" and put together the exact sentiments that I was thinking.
Think about all the ways Obama is trying to sell himself as a way of raising money.
- Dinner with Obama
- Have him in your family photo
- Wish Obama a Happy Birthday
- Ask your wedding guests to donate to Obama
Doesn’t this have the feel of a cult where people would do anything to catch a glimpse of this President?
Mitt Romney’s store only has one item with his likeness on it and it is a "Photo Button" of him with his wife. Contrast that with Obama who has his face on mugs, t-shirts, etc… Even grills and spatulas!
At 40 bucks, the grill spatula isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s a bargain compared to what another four years of Obama will cost you. And the burgers with Obama 2012 on them are a date stamped in time, reminding you that, if Obama wins in 2012, pretty soon you won’t be able to afford meat at all.
Obama also has special sections of his store for: African Americans, Latinos, Women, Asian Americans, Jewish Americans, LGBT, Veterans, Nurses, Environmentalists… while Romney does not discriminate.
Who buys these things anyways? I guess if your intention was to make a donation, you might as well get something out of it. But why would I want to see a picture of Joe Biden or Barack Obama while enjoying my morning tea / coffee? Or BBQing on the grill?
