Romney tried to demonstrate his "singing abilities" or lack thereof by singing "America the Beautiful" in Florida heading into their Republican primary.
I realize it may have been a politically calculated move by Romney to demonstrate that he can be loose on the campaign trail. But it isn’t easy singing in front of people especially when you don’t do it for a living.
Obama mocks his singing in the ad. I understand that it was about Romney’s outsourcing record but to put Romney singing a patriotic song in the background is disturbing.
What’s next? An Obama attack ad for the way Romney walks or talks or eats? What does he insinuate with the ad? That Romney doesn’t really love America?
John Sununu was witty enough to point out all the outsourced jobs that were created by Obama’s stimulus. How about all the times Obama has apologized for America but never defended her? How about the times he’s bowed down to foreign kings but leaves out the words Jesus Christ (or God) every chance that he gets? How about the fact that Obama has an illegal alien aunt and uncle in the United States?
This ad is going to backfire in the states it is going to be played: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Here are some twitter replies.
NolteNC: "Is the Obama campaign off-the-rails desperate or so sure the media won’t hold them to the truth they do this? Life ‘felon’ charge, Obama’s new ad goes too far. Wreaks of nasty desperation and fits Romney’s emerging narrative about Obama as a vicious politician."
StephenPatin: "Obama’s new ad makes fun of Romney singing? Glad someone can be mature about the election…"
jonathanchait: "I dunno, when I see this video I think ‘Romney is a decent singer who really loves America.’ Why is it damaging?"
