Bill Maher is supposed to be a comedian but he seems to keep getting into politics. Frankly, I feel he’s making a mockery of himself when he does.
The day after Independence Day, Bill Maher felt the need to trash America’s military in a blog post called "Why America Can’t Have Nice Things".
He speaks jealous of the innovation happening in the military sector and says that the public should have that — not the military.
Maher: The reason we don’t have flying cars, and robot housekeepers, and all that other Jetsons stuff that they promised us we’d have by the year 2000 is because the military got it instead. They got all the cool stuff and we got pizza with hot dogs in the crust. The only cool thing we got was the Internet, which was developed by the Defense Department, thus proving my point. It’s purely a fluke that the Internet turned out to be something the public sector would find useful.
This has to be one of his jokes. How can he be serious? The civilian world has had a lot of improvements in technology: Internet, smart phones, and GPS for example have all been aided by the military. The military fight for our freedoms everyday, so we should want them to have the best stuff!
