Obama announced today that he was going to, via the Department of Homeland Security, halt the deportation of illegal immigrants in this country provided they fit his definition of a DREAMer.
Representative Steve King of Iowa says that he is going to sue President Obama over his newly unveiled immigration policy.
Regardless of where you stand on the issue of immigration, the idea that a President can enact such a major policy on his own is disturbing. We are living in a Democracy, not a Kingdom.
Here are King’s quotes on the Huckabee Show.
“I will tell you that — I’m not without experience on this — I’m prepared to bring a suit and seek a court order to stop implementation of this policy,”
“I have done it once in the past successfully when then-Governor Tom Vilsack thought he could legislate by executive order — and the case of King vs. Vilsack is in the books.”
Judge Napolitano agrees:
“Our nation’s immigration laws must be enforced in a firm and sensible manner … But they are not designed to be blindly enforced without consideration given to the individual circumstances of each case.”
