Gurminder Parmar owns a mom-and-pop convenient store … and they have been robbed several times even at gun point. So when Christopher Driggers came in to steal a case of beer, he opened fire. Parmar says he believes Driggers may have been carrying a weapon.
Unless someone’s life is at risk, you cannot shoot to defend yourself so Parmar was arrested.
Parmar does not mention what gave him the idea that Driggers had a weapon. If someone enters your house (private property), you ought to have the right to shoot to defend yourself. We should treat one’s business location as private property as well.
