According to Tea Party groups all across the country, their voice is being silenced by the IRS. Below is a graphic from CBN that shows the location of Tea Party groups that have made complaints.
They say that when they are trying to apply for a non-profit organization, they are being asked questions by the IRS that oversteps the bounds of their "need-to-know". Such things they ask, according to the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) are the names of all members, information about family members, and everything that they have talked about in their meetings.
The ACLJ is suing the IRS on behalf as many as 20 Tea Party groups. They say:
The Obama Administration’s IRS appears to be conducting politically motivated investigations of Tea Party organizations nationwide. Such bullying tactics – designed to silence these organizations during this critical year – violates these citizens First Amendment rights. The ACLJ is fighting back.
