Retired General Jack Keane, the former Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, says that President Obama knew of Osama Bin Laden’s hideout since the Summer of 2010. He refused to act on the intelligence for nine months until May 2011 when OBL was ultimately brought to justice by the NAVY SEALs.
What was the hold up? According to Keane, Obama wanted to be certain that Bin Laden was really in the compound and that he wanted a picture.
The longer we survey the field, the more likely our target would feel they are being watched and ultimately flee.
We do not know how strong the evidence was that pin-pointed Bin Laden to the Pakistan compound in the Summer of 2010. It probably made sense to be a bit more certain but why did it take nine (9) months for Obama to feel certain enough to take him out?
If this information is true, then it takes away the boldness of the decision to get OBL. It also raises the question as to whether or not Obama’s decision to get OBL was politically motivated.
