Jody Gardner of Newark, OH has lost her dog and has placed signs all over the city about it.
There were complaints about the signs and the city told her she needed a permit for each sign she wanted to post.
City engineer Brian Morehead said the signs were posted inappropriately.
"We found signs right next to the curb of a street, at intersections…Actually, some of them were mounted on stop signs, which is against the regulations here."
To her defense, Gardner says "when something that is living is gone, either a person or animal, you just don’t think about stuff like that. And to go down and do paperwork for each sign was something that I didn’t even fathom."
The city will be looking into the ordinance.
It is possible she went overboard in posting signs across the city but to describe it as promotional material and force her to get a permit to post even one sign seems far-fetched.
