to a report by The Blaze, 100 protestors entered a vacant Church on Sunday with the intent of taking it over. They wanted to turn it (888 Turk) into a homeless shelter and food bank. Occupiers believed the building had not been used for five years.
But Church officials disagree. George Wesolek, spokesman for the archdiocese said the building had been used for regular music classes and they were going to lease the building to help provide financial aid for Sacred Heart students.
Church officials signed a citizens’ arrest on trespassing and graffiti charges that night and the Occupiers have since been evicted.
