This is in regards to the Global Climate Change Initiative (GCCI).
This is in addition to the already $2.5 billion that he’s spent since 2010. President Obama signed into law the Presidential Policy Directive on Global Development in 2010 which is what allows for all these expenditures. These initiatives are funded by the Dept. of State, Dept. of the Treasury, and USAID.
This money is spent on: adaptation, clean energy, and sustainable landscapes. They want to help poor countries develop clean energy industry and jobs because they are the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases.
These are the Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Authority
- $86.5 million for Global Environment Facility
- $300 million for Clean Technology Fund
- $75 million for Strategic Climate Fund
- $742 million for “Assistance for Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia
These values went down for 2011.
