Capri Elementary School of Encinitas, California has a stated policy that their children will be learning English and Spanish. If you want your children only to be taught in English then you will be forced to take them elsewhere.
The Superintendent Tim Baird says:
“All change is hard . Sometimes there are short-term pains, but there may be long-term gains.”
Teaching foreign language to children at an early age is good for those seeking to learn a foreign language. But there are also downfalls to it as well. Other skills, such as Math and Science, can be infringed upon if a child is spending a lot of time trying to learn a foreign language. At the end of the day, it should be the rights and freedom of parents to choose whether or not their child is forced to learn Spanish or not.
