A NATO convoy in Afghanistan has been attacked in retaliation to the Koran Burnings.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says that the US strategy in Afghanistan will not change.
From NY Post (3/2/12)
The attack comes a day after two American troops were killed in Kandahar by an Afghan soldier and a civilian in a shooting.
Thursday’s attack followed widespread Afghan outrage at the burning of Korans on a US air base north of Kabul.
It occurred at a military outpost in Kandahar when a literacy teacher and an Afghan National Army member turned their guns on the US troops.
Other NATO troops returned fire, killing the teacher and the Afghan army soldier.
The attacks come just days after President Barack Obama defended his apology issued in the wake of the Koran burnings, saying it had “calmed things down” in Afghanistan.
