(Acton, Massachusetts) On behalf of their children, parents who want to remain anonymous, are suing their school because they do not want to recite the words "under God" in the pledge of allegiance.
The family’s lawyer is David Niose and he says that “declaring that the nation is in fact under God … marginalizes them and suggests that people who don’t believe in God are less patriotic.”
The kids are already given the right to opt out of saying those words. Their lawsuit would silence everybody else. The school’s superintendant said they have already spent $10,000 in fighting this case.
Judge Jane Heggarty is expected to rule on this decision within the next couple of months.
