Wisconsin student Dexter Thielhelm (pictured: right, source: WND) of James Madison Elementary School in Sheboygan brought Valentines Day cards for his friends. Messages that read “Jesus Loves You” and “John 3:16” were censored.
The child’s mother is suing the school district on the grounds that this was a freedom of speech issue.
The superintendant Joe Sheehan said that this was not a free speech issue because the words should not be distributed to other people.
85% of the people polled on the Sheboygan Press website thought the school district’s decision to confiscate the messages was wrong.
