In Mustang, Oklahoma: A student took a picture of a substitute teacher while taking a nap at school. The school should be pleased with the student, right? Wrong. The school suspends him.
According to the school district, use of telecommunications devices during school hours is prohibited.
According to the report by KOCO, school officials said they "will take appropriate follow-up action as this type of behavior by staff is not tolerated." Umm, what? They suspended the student before taking any follow-up action on the teacher? The teacher should have been reprimanded immediately.
He violated that rule but there should be some discretion taken. If a teacher is acting inappropriately then students should be encouraged to get proof of such misconduct and report it to authorities immediately. This is just another of the many examples of our public education system going down the tubes thanks to the powerful teacher unions.
