President Donald Trump has been working on the desperately needed welfare reform since he went into office and he is one step closer to making that promise come true.
He is planning on signing a bill passed by Congress that will allow states to perform drug tests on those who are applying for unemployment benefits.
This will drastically cut down on those who are trying to leech unemployment for what it’s worth without actually making an initiative to apply for jobs.
Under former President Barack Obama, states were NOT allowed to drug test applicants unless they were applying for jobs that already had mandatory drug testing.
From Young Conservatives:
Donald Trump promised to get some work done on welfare reform. There is no doubt the work is desperately needed. Well, it looks like Trump is ready to take the first step toward making that promise a reality. Obviously, not everyone on welfare is a leech. But let’s be real. The current welfare status quo is unsustainable. It doesn’t inspire you to get a job when some states pay you more in welfare than a job does. At the very least, we should all agree that states have the right to decide whether they want to drug test or not. That seems like a bare minimum that shouldn’t even be political.
