James Comey, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, threw cold water on liberal suspicions of a Trump-Putin love affair today by stating that Putin’s actions have more to do with dislike of former Democratic Party Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Comey (in photo) talked about how Russian President Vladimir Putin hates Hillary Clinton “so much” he developed a default preference for Donald Trump as the next U.S. President. Comey used a sports metaphor, saying, “(if) I hate the New England Patriots…no matter who they play, I’d like them to lose.”
The director’s statements are similar to those of a January 6th intelligence report on Russian attempts to influence the 2016 election.
It is believed widely that Moscow did not believe Trump could possibly win, and focused instead on trying to undermine Clinton’s credibility.
Putin’s dislike of Clinton is partially based on her 2011 remarks as U.S. Secretary of State, when she alleged fraud in Russia’s parliamentary elections.
