With summer here, you’re probably looking for an excuse to get outside and do something active. In this video, there is a nifty trick to make a tiki torch for your backyard using some recycled bottles.
The first step is to make sure your glass bottles are empty, so drink up.
Then get two grounding clamps, a 1/4 inch threaded rod, a roll of Teflon tape, a 1/2 inch copper coupler and cap, a replacement torch wick and the glass bottle.
Cut the threading rod to fir the location. Attach a grounding clamp to your fence or other sturdy item in your yard. Then screw the threaded rod into the grounding clamp. On the other end, screw on the other grounding clamp
Use the clamp to hold the bottle in place. Since the 1/2 copper coupler is too small for the bottle opening, wrap enough Teflon tape around it so it’ll fit and stay watertight.
Fill the bottle with torch fluid and thread the wick through the coupler. Now light your very own tiki torch.
When you’re not using it, place the cap on top to stop water from getting inside.
