In a bid to force of vote on a gun control law, House Democrats staged a sit-in to protest. Four gun control measures, two from Democrats and two from Republicans, failed to pass in the Senate last week. The cameras in the House have been turned off and Democrats blame Republicans for turning them off. After all, you can’t have a media circus without cameras!
The fact is the cameras are off because of House rules. Since, as a result of the sit-in, there was no official business being carried out, the House went into recess. The rules state that the cameras are to be turned off when the House is in recess. Contrary to what some leftists are saying (Michael Moore), it’s not a Republican conspiracy to keep the American people in the dark.
Independent Journal reports:
On Wednesday, House Democrats staged a dramatic “sit in,” hoping to force a vote on gun control legislation in the wake of the Orlando shooting that left 49 dead.
Since several gun control measures — proposed by both Republicans and Democrats — failed to pass the Senate last week, Democrat members of the House and Senate have literally taken a seat on the floor, refusing to leave the House chamber.
As the sit-in continues, politicians, celebrities and media headlines alike have accused Republicans of turning off the cameras inside the House, so the American public can’t see the left’s stand against anti-gun violence.
