Should leftist politicians, liberal celebrities and other anti-gun supporters have armed protection when they are out in public? As a matter of principle, no, they shouldn’t. What are they worried about? They should arm their security with anti-gun legislation and signs that declare a gun-free zone around themselves. Does Obama have armed security with him when he visits his hometown, Chicago? The Windy City is a veritable liberal utopia of anti-gun legislation boasting the toughest gun control laws in the country. Surely criminals, terrorists and possible assassins will respect the rule of law.
A Shell gas station in Minnesota was robbed twice in three months. The owner, Frank Schwagel, decided to put up a sign. He posted a sign that offered a 10 cent per gallon discount on gas purchases after 7 PM for police officers and anyone with proof of a concealed carry permit. Schwagel said that he wanted to protect his employees from knife and gun wielding thugs. Business in the evening has improved, the employees are safe, and there hasn’t been any anti-Second Amendment demonstrations calling for a boycott of the gas station.
The Federalist Papers Project reports:
After Frank Schwagel, the owner of a Shell gas station in Minnesota was robbed twice in three months, he did just the opposite.
Schwagel decided to do something unusual, according to WJON-TV. He put a sign on his gas station’s front door last week offering discounts after 7 p.m. to police officers or anybody who shows him a conceal carry permit.
He said he was “trying to bring it to people’s attention that there’s been some robberies going on around town,” Schwagel told WJON-TV. “And these guys are coming in with guns and knives and threatening our employees. It’s pretty disconcerting. I just figured anything I can do to draw attention to the problem.”
