Mike Pence had several great lines throughout the 2016 Vice Presidential debate, which completely destroyed Hillary Clinton and her running mate.
There was one line though that went over extremely well with Frank Luntz’s focus group.
That moment came after Kaine went on a rant about the offensive things that Trump had said about different people and groups. After Kaine stopped, Pence gave a very sharp retort.
Pence said that even if Trump had said everything that Kaine accused him of, he still wouldn’t be as bad as Clinton and then referenced Clinton’s infamous basket of deplorables remark.
“She said that half of our supporters were a basket of deplorables. She said that they were irredeemable, they were not American. And then she laid one after another ‘ism’ on millions of Americans who believe that we can have a stronger America at home and abroad,” Pence said.
Pence’s rebuke of Clinton drew high remarks from the focus group, even among some Democrats. Frank Luntz even went so far as to say that it may have very well been the “KO punch” of the debate.
“So senator this insult driven campaign, that’s small potatoes compared to Hillary Clinton calling half of Donald Trump’s supporters a basket of deplorables,” Pence continued.

Kaine made a poor showing by interrupting Pence repeatedly and saying the same lines over and over again. On the other hand, Pence had a clear vision for America.
The winner was obvious.
