In March, 2016, Shanika S. Minor, 24, shot and killed her neighbor, resulting in the death of the neighbor’s unborn baby as well. Minor is wanted on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, first-degree intentional homicide, and first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child. She has been placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for her crimes. The FBI adds criminals to their most wanted list according to certain criteria, which include the nature, heinousness, and notoriety of the crime. Minor is the tenth woman to be placed on the list.
The first, Ruth Eisemann-Schier, took part in the kidnapping of a construction heiress in 1968. Eisemann-Schier and her accomplice, Grary Stephen Krist, buried the heiress alive for 80 hours until a ransom was paid. The second, Marie Dean Arrington made the list after escaping prison. Originally on death row for the murder of the secretary of a public defender, her sentence had been reduced to life. Arrington murdered the secretary out of revenge when her two children had been found guilty of armed robbery. We can see that it takes a certain kind of person to be put on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
Independent Journal reports:
In March 2016, twenty-four-year-old Shanika S. Minor became involved in an altercation with a neighbor who had allegedly been playing loud music in her home. When Minor’s mother complained that it was too late to be causing such a disruption — it was around 3 a.m. — Minor confronted the neighbor, saying that it was disrespectful to her and her mother.
According to WMC Action News, the argument escalated and an armed Minor proceeded to fire the handgun at the neighbor, shooting her in the chest. The neighbor, who was pregnant and five days away from her due date, died in her apartment shortly thereafter, in the presence of her two children.
Minor fled the scene and has not been seen since. She is wanted on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, first-degree intentional homicide, and first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child. As a result, she has been added to the FBI’s list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, making her the tenth woman to be put on the list.
