The Florida School for Boys, also known as Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys, was officially closed in 2011. The school was a reform school that was notoriously known for abuse and cruelty toward the boys that were sent there. Throughout its 111-year history, the school was known for abuse, beatings, rapes, torture, and even the murder of some students by staff. Changes in staff and leadership did not quell the abuse. Many of the allegations were confirmed by separate investigations.
Thomas Curry was one of the boys who stayed at the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys. Thomas Curry’s body has never been found and the circumstances surrounding his death are mysterious to say the least. The school recorded that he had been killed on RR Bridge Chattahoochee, Florida, but had never reported the death to authorities. A previously unknown graveyard of 55 graves near the school in Florida did not yield the remains of Thomas Curry.
Following his trail, investigators were led to a cemetery in Pennsylvania, where it was believed that Curry was buried among family. Curry’s remains were supposedly shipped from Florida to Pennsylvania for burial almost 90 years ago. Curry’s casket in Pennsylvania was unearthed and opened. Investigators found the casket was full of wooden planks, and no remains were found. This only further deepens the mystery of Thomas Curry.
It’s been nearly 90 years since anyone has dared to look for the lost body of Thomas Curry. The teenager had died at an infamous boy’s school in Pennsylvania. So after nearly a century-long mystery, forensic analysists and Pennsylvania state police gathered in shifts as the experts excavated the grave site of the long-dead teen and many of his murdered classmates.
But when they tore open his casket, they were left with only more questions…
Instead of finding the teenage boy’s remains, the experts opened a casket filled with layers of wood. Apparently, someone had stuffed the casket with planks in order to weigh it down so people would think a body was in there. But why would they want to hide the resting place of Thomas Curry…?
