A new national poll shows that Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP candidate, is dwindling. The poll by McClatchy-Marist shows that Clinton’s lead over Trump is only 3 percentage points. That lead is within the margin of error which means, essentially, that they are tied.
Analysts believe that Clinton’s email scandal has caused her to lose ground. FBI Director Comey did not recommend criminal charges but so much as said that Clinton broke the law in her handling of classified material. He also said that she was not sophisticated enough to understand security classifications on email messages. Comey, under questioning, revealed that Hillary Clinton lied to the American people in an effort to cover-up her wrongdoing. Comey’s words have put doubt in the minds of voters and the polls reflect this.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Yet another new national poll has shown Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton’s lead against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump shortening.
A new McClatchy-Marist poll published Wednesday showed that her lead had dropped to only 3 percentage points, within the margin of error, meaning that the two candidates were effectively tied.
Specifically, Clinton led Trump 42 to 39 in a head-to-head match-up, though she led him 40 to 35 when libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein were thrown into the match-up as well.
