Liberals have been calling for more gun control and a ban on assault rifles in the wake of the Orlando terror attack. Liberals want to ban them, but they don’t know what they are. Vox, a liberal website dedicated to explaining stuff to liberals, has tweeted an explanation of an assault rifle so the gun-grabbing leftists will be able to identify one.
Unfortunately for Vox, they appear to have it all wrong. The weapon pictured is not an assault rifle. Heck, it’s not even the dreaded AR-15! Colt owns the AR-15 but similar models are manufactured by other companies, and are also referred to as the AR-15. To be an assault rifle, it should have certain characteristics such as selective rate of fire which means it can switch from semiautomatic to full automatic fire. The AR-15 is a semiautomatic rifle, not an assault rifle, since it is capable of semiautomatic fire only. An assault rifle has a detachable magazine. The rifle in Vox’s pic is an AR-10 with a fixed magazine, so, not an assault rifle. What about the AR-15? If liberals successfully ban assault rifles, we will still have the AR-15.
The Federalist Papers Project reports:
Conservatives have always had the upper hand in the gun control debate because we actually understand how guns work.
Liberals have a long history of embarrassing themselves when it comes to explaining just how those pesky firearms work. During a now infamous interview with Tucker Carlson during the Clinton years, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy couldn’t do as much as define the features that the assault weapon ban banned. And don’t forget the genius politicians in California warning us of “30 magazine clips” – or CNN warning us of AR-15 shotguns.
Vox has been the latest to make a complete fool out of themselves when it comes to the gun control debate. For anyone who doesn’t know, Vox is a website that breaks down and explains the news to their liberal audience who apparently isn’t intelligent enough to figure it out themselves.
