Many Republicans are obviously upset with FBI Director James Comey after he announced Tuesday that he would not recommend that presumed Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton be indicted by the Department of Justice for breaking the law.
Several congressional Republicans have called for Comey to explain himself, which he will do when he testifies before Congress.
Sen. Chuck Grassley was one of the Republican senators demanding answers about why Clinton won’t be charged.
Grassley called the investigation “suspect,” and demanded that the FBI turn over the evidence that led them to decide not to press charges against the former Secretary of State.
“Prosecutorial decisions made under the shadow of apparent conflicts of interest are understandably suspect,” Grassley wrote in a letter to Comey.
“The FBI should provide a detailed written accounting of the scope of its investigation, the investigative steps it took, and the evidence it gathered in the course of its investigation,” the Iowa Republican wrote. “Until the FBI does so, much of the public will rightly be skeptical of the integrity of this investigation.”
The American public will undoubtedly be skeptical of the FBI investigation no matter what Comey says. In the eyes of millions, the results of this investigation proves that the Clintons are above the law.
Despite no legal charges being brought against Clinton, having her email controversy as the leading news item for days on end must be giving her a huge political headache.
This scandal shows her incompetence, which is something she clearly doesn’t want to deal with right now. Hopefully this scandal will follow her through November and remind the American people why she would be a horrible leader.
